Council for Older Adults—Volunteer Open House
The Council for Older Adults is looking for volunteers that are ready to “Give from the Heart.” Come find out about volunteer opportunities during the “Give from the Heart” Volunteer Open House. The open house is for anyone interested in hearing more about the fun and varied positions with no obligation to join the team. This event will be held on Feb, 11 from 4-6pm at the Council for Older Adults, 800 Cheshire Rd, Delaware 43015. There will be refreshments, door prizes, and fun! Delaware Parks & Recreation
Do you enjoy the outdoors? Are you looking for something your family or a group can do together on a regular basis? The City of Delaware Parks & Recreation are looking for groups for the following:
- Adopt-A-Park: Delaware has 21 Parks. Help clean up and maintain your neighborhood park or help out with one of the larger community parks.
- Adopt-A-Trail: Delaware City has over 14 miles of bikeways to monitor and maintain. Take a walk, do a little clean up and help keep our trails looking good and safe for walkers, runners and bikers.
- Adopt-A-Bed: In an effort to provide more beautification in parks and key city entrances and gateways, Delaware City is looking for plant/material donations and/or volunteers to help maintain some of the most prominent landscape beds.
ESOL Classroom Assistant
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) has classes Monday—Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm in Delaware. Volunteer classroom assistants are needed to help with registration and orientation of new students, reinforcing the lesson with a small group, making copies and assisting the teacher, and working oneon-one with very limited English proficient learners.
Preservation Parks of Delaware County
Preservation Parks of Delaware County helps preserve green space. Volunteers are needed to help with an upcoming fundraiser—Cuisine Along the Ravine, which will be held on Saturday, February 13th. Volunteers are also needed to help at two “Build a Bird Box” workshops, as nature center attendants, and ecological surveyors and much more! Join this team of over 200 volunteers who help in the parks!
Stratford Ecological Center
It’s Maple Sugar Season!! Volunteers are needed to help with the Maple Sugaring operation (tapping, hauling, and cooking) on weekdays and some Saturdays in February and March. No experience is necessary. The operation runs until 3pm unless it’s a special work day. Volunteers are also needed to help on weekdays and Saturdays as receptionists and Farm & Nature Guides. Farm & Nature guides educate children and families about the relationships between living things and their environment. Trainings will be held on Wednesday, February 24th, 9am—1pm and Saturday, February 27th, 9am—1pm.
Grady Memorial Hospital
Grady Memorial Hospital, located in the city of Delaware, has the need for volunteers to help at the Information Desk on Wednesdays from 12-4pm. There is also an opening for a Comfort Cart Volunteer on Thursdays from 1-4pm.
Connections Volunteer Center
The central clearing house for volunteering in Delaware County.
